We're proud to share that Solar X has been named a Gold Winner in the Circadian Lighting & Innovative Lighting Design categories at the 2026 MUSE Design Awards — one of the lighting design world's most respected international recognitions.
This one means a lot to us. Solar X was built on a simple but often overlooked idea: sunlight isn't one thing. It's a full, changing spectrum — and your body reads every part of it differently, depending on the time of day. Getting recognized in a category specifically built around circadian lighting tells us the design world sees what we set out to build.
What the Judges Recognized
Solar X integrates ten distinct wavelengths spanning UVB, UVA, visible, and near-infrared light — 295nm and 310nm UVB, 365nm and 380nm UVA, 415nm violet, 465nm blue, 590nm amber, 630nm red, and 850nm and 940nm near-infrared. Instead of isolating one wavelength, Solar X organizes these into eleven operating modes across four categories:
- Amber/Red/NIR modes (Healing, Fireplace 1, Fireplace 2, GAMA) — no UV, designed for longer daily sessions or shorter focused ones
- Sun Modes (Sun 8 AM, Sun 10 AM, Sun 12 PM) — recreate how natural light shifts across a real day, from softer early light to higher UV exposure at midday
- Dedicated Tanning, Bronzing, UVA, and UVB modes — for more intentional, targeted use rather than one generic UV setting
Within Sun Modes, UV Index is designed to progress from 3 to 6 to 11 across the three presets, with session guidance shortening as intensity increases — reflecting a structured, progressive approach to indoor light exposure rather than a one-size-fits-all setting.
Why "Circadian Lighting" Specifically
At 465nm, Solar X's blue wavelength sits in the range associated with melanopsin — a light-sensing pathway in the eye that researchers have linked to circadian signaling and how the body reads time of day. It's part of what we call the Solar Preconditioning Concept: pairing UV wavelengths with visible and near-infrared light, the way UV shows up in nature — as one part of a broader spectrum — rather than in isolation.
That's the core design philosophy behind Solar X: don't replicate a single wavelength of sunlight. Replicate the pattern.
Built for Real Use
Solar X is rated for a 20,000-hour LED lifespan and sets up via tabletop stand, door mount, or VESA-compatible monitor arm — designed to fit into an actual daily routine, not just a lab.
